A message from the President
of Florida Safety Training, Patrick
Joyce
Over the last
22 years, I personally have conducted safety
training
classes
all over Florida, that have included
employees from each of
the county,
municipal, private construction, and consultant engineering companies listed
in the sidebar at right.

With over 20 years experience with a large municipal utility as a
Safety Manager, and with over 10 years of concurrent
experience teaching safety
classes for the Florida Section, American Water Works
Association (FS-AWWA) and the Florida Water Pollution
Control and Operators Association (FWPC&OA), I have instructed thousands of the dedicated, hard-working
individuals in the utilities industry.
They are the serviceworkers who survey,
install, inspect and repair roads, water,
sewer, electric power, natural gas, stormwater, telephone, data
communications, and signaling facilities. It takes tremendous skill and effort to
install this infrastructure accurately, safely, and in a timely manner.
These professionals have extraordinary committment to "get
the job done", and do what it takes to make these systems hold
together.
As companies began coming to me in 1999,
asking for safety training and certification, I realized that there were
very few providers in South Florida. And so I started Florida
Underground Safety Training to begin meeting that demand, The company
incorporated in 2009 and changed the name to Florida Safety
Training, Inc..
My courses are presented in such a way to make the learning
experience both interesting
and challenging. The student sees valid and authoritative videos, meaningful
on-site
photos, accurate and approved engineering diagrams, and colorful
illustrations to make the topics
hit home and come alive.
This Intermediate Workzone Traffic Control course is fully approved
by the State of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Maintenance
of Traffic Committee (MOTC).
The approval procedure requires the MOTC to thoroughly review the
course agenda, slide presentation, student handouts, exercises,
final examination, and even the exam answer sheet and certificate.
See the state rules for training program approval at
Document Number 625-010-010 "Maintenance of Traffic Training" 1/20/05.
Florida Safety Training is
approved as Provider #102 and this can be verified at the State
